We sponsor the Holy Smokes Cook-off and Family Campout at the Chancery grounds in Kansas City, KS the weekend after Labor Day. This annual kick-off event for the scouting year is geared to scouts of all ages and their families, with a campfire cooking competition, Mass under the stars, a Christian rock music concert, and optional camping. The Holy smokes camp out will be held September 7 - 8, 2013, September 6 - 7, 2014 and September 12 - 13, 2015.
The Spring Spiritual Retreat at Prairie Star Ranch in Williamsburg, KS is geared to middle school and older aged boy and girl scouts and venture crews. It will be held February 8 - 9, 2014 and January 31 - February 1, 2015. All scouts are welcome to enjoy the day of reflection, organized and led by youth ministry staff of the Archdiocese, whether or not they are pursuing religious emblems. The retreat relieves the burden of planning and implementing a day of retreat or reflection for religious emblem counselors. The Catholic Committee traditionally treats scout leaders and religious emblems counselors to a steak dinner and all the fixings. Click on the headline above to register for the event!
The Annual Awards Mass Celebrated by Archbishop Naumann is held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 409 N. 15th St., Kansas City, KS 66102. The Archbishop presents religious emblems to scouts and recognition awards for adult leaders nominated by their peers. Scouts perform important roles in the liturgy, as lectors, and as musicians, servers and singers. The awards Mass for 2013 will be held Sunday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m.
